And it was amazing

I just wrote a whole paper on this painting. I saw it at the Church's Museum of Art a couple months ago. It was pretty much amazing and definitely so much better in person. It is a really good painting with some pretty excellent stories behind it. Like that a lot of the figures were modeled after homeless people; and that the model for Christ at first refused to model, but later agreed; and that all the white is actually the canvas, not paint; and that when the lights shining on the picture fade, Judas (far left) fades away and Christ is emphasized.

But anyway, this is all I've got that is remotely blog-worthy. So enjoy.

I think that is awesome that the figures were modeled after homeless people because it just emphasizes what Christs mission is. Today in my NT class we were talking about Christ's miracles in Matthew. It is all so amazing. Too much to explain on here though. That is really cool. I wish I could have seen the painting in person.

That is pretty dang cool. Don't you love learning about the stories behind a painting. Every single one contains so much information. I have never seen this painting before. I approve.

this painting reminds me of DaVinci's painting, "Last Supper," but better. i say that because ever since "the DaVinci Code" came out it seems like people have made that painting out to be all craziness and such. anyways, i don't know if anyone knows what i'm trying to say. i like this painting and i want to see it in real life, mostly i want to see the light shine on it and watch judas fade away. i think thats a pretty cool sounding trick.

I'm going out with infamous Derrall tonight. I just thought everyone should know. I'm still quite shocked myself.

Derral. Wow. I wish I had known about this earlier. I would have given you your birthday present early. Great. Please, tell all.

I just realized that the shoe in your last post reminds me of "Unique Forms of Continuity in Space." Remember that from art history? Ali, I really want to hear about this date in greater detail. Perhaps you could post about it...secretly.

Hey, we now sell prints of this painting in the BYU Bookstore. It's quite popular with the people I work with, even the critical artists.
